Most people using Facebook will post on the wall. However, using Facebook Notes allows you to refer to that particular note as it has its own URL.
Because posting on the wall does not have this feature, it will be hard to find to refer to a previous status update posted on the wall. On a brand new Facebook Page, your will not see the Note Tab.
